Lita Richardson, president of L. Richardson Entertainment oversees the day to day operations of her talent management and production
company. As part of her arsenal of services, she negotiates client contracts and guides her client’s management and marketing plans. With her hands on approach, she also directs the publicity strategies designed to promote their professional careers.
L. Richardson Entertainment is an outgrowth of Magic Johnson Management Group, which Lita formed in 1997 with former NBA great and entrepreneur, Earvin “Magic” Johnson. Magic recruited Richardson to create a talent management television and film division. Lita successfully built and managed that division as Vice President from December 1997 to March 2000. In March, Lita assumed complete ownership of MJMG and renamed the talent management company L. Richardson Entertainment.
In May 1986, as a double major in Managerial Studies and Legal Studies she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree, from Rice University, in Houston, Texas. In May 1988, Lita obtained a Doctorate of Jurisprudence, from University of Houston, Bates School of Law and has been an active member of the California State Bar since 1990.
From 1992-1997, Lita worked as an attorney, at the law firm of Reed & Associates, in Beverly Hills, California. It was at this time that she began to cultivate her talent based entertainment law practice. Lita has counseled and provided legal services to entertainment clients in the fields of professional sports, television, film and music. Some of those clients include Latina Magazine (a division of Essence Magazine); directors Kevin Hooks (“Passenger 57” and “Fled”) and John Singleton (“Fast & Furious 2” “Shaft”); actors Steve Harvey, Vivica A. Fox, Regina King, and former super model,Beverly Johnson. Her music clients have included platinum and gold recording artists such as Omarion (B2K) as well as music producers and movie sound tracks. Professional athletes also include, Shaquille O’Neal and Earvin “Magic” Johnson. Literary clients include authors Bebe Moore Campbell and Deborah Gregory (The Cheetah Girls).
In the area of film and television production, Richardson and her producing partner Vivica A. Fox recently produced the romantic comedies, Getting Played (New Line) and The Salon (Sundance Film Festival) as well as the suspense thriller, Motives and Motives 2 , for Sony Pictures. Lita was also instrumental in creating and developing the Fox sitcom, Getting Personal, with her client Vivica A. Fox, as well the hit comedy film Two Can Play That Game (Sony/Screen Gems). Lita and Vivica currently have a film production deal at Lionsgate Entertainment.
Lita is also a member of the Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences as well as the California State Bar. She also serves on the Professional Representatives Peer Group Executive Committee. Lita has been featured for her work in the industry on the cover of Black Enterprise and in Essence and Script magazines. |
